I am deeply grateful that for...
I am deeply grateful that for more than twenty years I have had the protection which belongs to those who have found the "pearl of great price," the understanding of God, which was so wonderfully demonstrated throughout the life and in the teachings of Christ Jesus, and later by our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy.
My first experience of the healing power of Truth was before my marriage. I had not read the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, but had heard Christian Science discussed by friends and a member of my family, and also by my fiancé, who one day, finding me suffering from neuralgia, urged me to go with him to see a practitioner. This I did and was instantaneously healed, and that condition has never returned. This led us both to take up the study of Christian Science.
After our marriage there was another beautiful healing at the birth of our son. The same practitioner was asked to assist. When the nurse and doctor were afraid for me and said that all was not as it should be, the practitioner was informed, and suddenly it was as if someone spoke aloud the words, "Peace, be still." and a completely harmonious birth came about. The doctor remarked afterwards that it was due to the presence of another power, and he was very thankful that he had not had to use his instruments. The baby weighed only two pounds, but was healthy and strong. During the first few weeks of his life the Hymnal was my constant companion. When attaining the age of eleven years he entered the local grammar school and was examined by the doctor for the first time. He remarked that the lad was in perfect condition, and his paper showed that he had not suffered from any of the so-called children's diseases. He has now passed through his fifteenth summer.
