Church Dedications

Note: Christian Science churches are dedicated only when free from debt.

Sylvania, Ohio (Society).— On Sunday, December 13, 1942, morning, afternoon, and evening services marked the dedication of the church edifice of Christian Science Society, Sylvania, Ohio. In addition to the regular Sunday service, the First Reader read a brief history of the organization.

The first service was held on December 6, 1931, in the P. H. C. Hall on Main Street, and in February, 1932, the organization became an authorized branch of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts. In December of 1932, the auditorium of the Farmers and Merchants Bank Building was leased, and Sunday services and Wednesday evening meetings were held at this location for the next ten years. In October,

1941, the property at 5768 North Main Street was purchased, and on Sunday, March 8, 1942, the first service was held in the new edifice. The remodeling of the building for church purposes was completed early in December, 1942.
