The Ever-present Resources of Mind

In the opinion of an internationally known writer, the outcome of the present world conflict is dependent on two factors: the possession of natural resources and their utilization in the production, transportation, and intelligent use of needed weapons and supplies. His view of resources, however, was entirely material. He depicted them as inaccessible, limited, and difficult to transport. If so much seems to be attributed to resources and their utilization, it should be helpful to consider both these subjects in the light of Christian Science.

Because of today's world problems we are discerning anew the great import of these words of our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy (Unity of Good, p. 9): "The talent and genius of the centuries have wrongly reckoned. They have not based upon revelation their arguments and conclusions as to the source and resources of being,— its combinations, phenomena, and outcome,—but have built instead upon the sand of human reason. They have not accepted the simple teaching and life of Jesus as the only true solution of the perplexing problem of human existence."

Basing our reasoning upon spiritual revelation, we learn that all is Mind and its manifestation. True assets or resources, then, must be mental, the spiritual ideas which emanate from God. To those standing for divine Principle and relying upon God, universal good, these true resources are immediately available for use without limit or restriction. But to the cohorts of evil they are never available. Evil is not intelligent, and cannot know, understand, or appropriate true ideas. Supreme wisdom and infinite intelligence, even the entire resources of divine Mind, are ever active in maintaining all that is real and right. There is no true intelligence, hence there are no resources, on the side of error—absolutely none. As we read in Proverbs, "There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel against the Lord."
