Shortly after we came to this country following the last World War, a neighbor spoke to my husband and me about Christian Science. This was the first time I had ever heard of it. At her invitation. I attended several church services. I do not recall exactly what my impressions were at the time, because everything seemed so new in a strange land. I realized I had much to learn, including another language.

Many years passed, during which time I submitted to several major operations and was confined to my bed most of the time. Then a second call to Christian Science came through a stranger, who advised my husband to procure a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, with French translation, which he did. I must have caught some glimpses of the truth, although I found it difficult to understand the textbook even in my own language and more so in English, and put it away. It was not until some time later that an impelling desire came over me to attend a Wednesday evening testimony meeting. I took some free literature away with me, and well remember taking enough to last me for a while. A few days later, when laid up with a very bad cold, I read these periodicals from early in the evening until morning, with wonderful results. I immediately purchased all Mrs. Eddy's works in English and began to attend all the church services.

While I did not primarily come to Christian Science for physical healing, I certainly was in great need of it. The physician, as well as the surgeon who performed my last operation, told my husband that I had only a short time to live. Oh, but the goodness of God —how impartial and boundless is His love!
