"Unto seventy times seven"

Forgiveness is a stream
That flows from Love;
It is a bright and tender shower
Poured from above.

Who loved of old,
Remembering angry Esau changed,
And Joseph sold;

David, who spared his king
In that dark cave;
Elisha feeding helpless foes—
Men who forgave;

Above all Jesus, who
At supper's end—
Stripped, girded with a towel—moved
From friend to friend

Slowly, until he came
To Judas' seat;
Then, knowing his betrayer, stooped
And washed his feet.
