Since beginning the study of Christian Science, some fifteen years ago, we have witnessed many healings in our family, some of which were healings of our children, who have been reared in Christian Science.

A few years ago one of our children was visiting in the home of a close relative, who had been asked not to call a doctor but to call me immediately if ever any help were needed. Contrary to these instructions, a doctor was called when the child complained of not feeling well. After a close examination the physician stated that the child had every symptom of infantile paralysis. I was advised at once, and for the moment allowed myself to be considerably disturbed. I called a Christian Science practitioner immediately, and he began on the true premise that the boy was, in reality, the child of God, and as such could experience nothing but good. Therefore, the statement could only be false and could have no effect whatsoever upon the child and could not reach or harm him. The practitioner worked earnestly and faithfully throughout the entire day.

Since the disease is to mortal sense highly contagious, it was later deemed advisable to have the child re-examined by another physician, who could not make the examination until late in the evening. When he arrived he spent about half an hour going over the child again and again. Then he stated, "I am happy to inform you that your child has not the slightest indication of infantile paralysis." The difficulty had been completely overcome, and in a few days the child was playing around as usual. Needless to say, there was great rejoicing as well as a deep sense of gratitude in our home for this further proof of the truth of Mrs. Eddy's teachings.
