With heartfelt gratitude I wish to relate an account of the first healing I witnessed in Christian Science. A friend had been telling me of her healing of a serious kidney trouble. I knew nothing about Christian Science except that it was a religion and that healing was accomplished through prayer.

When my son was desperately ill with tonsillitis and diphtheria, with little hope held out for his recovery, I visited a practitioner and told her of my need. She said if I was willing to give up medicine she would take the case. She told me to go home and have no fear. Before I reached home the fear was all gone. I said nothing to the family and stayed with the patient so that no medicine would be given. Within an hour he was fast asleep. Looking at the four glasses of medicine I thought, I cannot "serve two masters." I decided that I had no more use for medicine and threw it out.

My son slept all night, and in the morning arose, dressed himself, and ate breakfast with the family. When the doctor came with the quarantine sign to put on the house, he expressed great concern about the boy's being up. He examined his throat and found conditions entirely normal. That day I disposed of every material remedy in the house, and have never had a desire for any since.
