Church Notes

Oregon City, Oregon (First Church).—First Church of Christ, Scientist, Oregon City, dedicated its new church building on Sunday, June 28, 1942, at two well-attended services. The new edifice, at Ninth and Center Streets, was started in 1941.

In accordance with the rule of the Christian Science church that no church building may be dedicated until free of indebtedness, the dedication was withheld until June 28. Assistance in financing its construction came from the Selina C. Cornish fund and from a grant by the Trustees under the Will of Mary Baker Eddy.

Interest in Christian Science in Oregon City was shown as early as 1896, but not until June, 1902, was First Church of Christ, Scientist, Oregon City, organized and incorporated under the laws of the state. Two sightly lots at Ninth and Center Streets were purchased in 1910. The original church building was erected there and served until the new building was completed in 1942.—Courier.
