"Freely ye have received, freely give"
"Freely ye have received, freely give." It is with the thought of the many blessings that have been mine during the past thirty years since I began the study of Christian Science, and the desire to give renewed courage to some who are finding the way long and arduous, that I wish to tell of the healing of my daughter.
When she was about six years of age she had a fall, and became violently ill. For thirteen weeks she was under the care of physicians, who tried several different methods of treatment without any improvement.
A consultation was asked of the several physicians who had attended her, and they all gave different verdicts. One said her leg would have to be taken off at the hip; another that her leg would not have its normal growth and she would have to spend her life in a wheelchair. Another said she was too weak to undergo an operation, so there was no hope.
At this time a friend recommended that we try Christian Science. The help of a practitioner was secured. All material remedies were laid aside, and we were told to give food to my daughter, who had been on a liquid diet for thirteen weeks.
When the child was told of our plans she joyfully said, "I know God can make me well." The next morning the fever was gone, and she turned herself in bed without pain. During the weeks of illness her knee and hip joints had grown stiff from being in one position. Through the Christian Science treatments this condition was overcome. Soon she could hop about on one foot.
After further Science treatment, a new bone replaced the shattered one, and her leg became normal. When she was sixteen years of age she was entirely healed. She had attended school regularly, learned to skate, ride a bicycle, dance, and was teaching dancing before the healing was complete. Patience has its "perfect work." My daughter is now married, and is the mother of three robust children who have been reared in Christian Science. Many of my friends witnessed this healing, and truly "a little child shall lead them," for a number have become students of Christian Science.
I am grateful for every avenue so wisely and lovingly provided by our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, for the revelation of this law of God, for her textbook, Science and Health, and for all her other writings. Words cannot express my gratitude for the many blessings that have been mine through the application of this Science.—(Mrs.) Pearl F. Siegel, Houston, Texas.
