"Before they call, I will answer;...
"Before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear." These words from Isaiah have been proved true in my experience, for I know that Christian Science came to me in answer to prayer and a desire for a better understanding of God.
As a child I had a very unhappy home life and very little religious training, and as I became older I rebelled against what I considered to be the injustice and hardship of life. I attended the services of various religious denominations to try to find something that would aid me, but in spite of these efforts I was left unsatisfied. In consequence I became bitter and resentful towards life.
One day while I was visiting a friend, the conversation turned to religion, with the result that I was asked to attend a Christian Science lecture, which I did. What impressed me most at that meeting was the happiness expressed on the faces of the people gathered there. It seemed very wonderful to me, because I was unhappy and depressed.
