Sunday School Notes and Comments

Through the study of the article "Exemplification" in "Retrospection and Introspection" by Mary Baker Eddy, the teacher in the Christian Science Sunday School may gain inspiration, humility, and teachableness, qualities which must be embodied in his thinking and expressed by word and action, if he wishes to have loving response and attention from the pupils.

We find this statement on page 86 of "Retrospection and Introspection": "There is but one way of doing good, and that is to do it! There is but one way of being good, and that is to be good!" As we heed this admonition and come to the class expressing innocency, purity, and honesty, we shall be able to present with sincerity and conviction the truths revealed in the Bible and Mrs. Eddy's writings. When we maintain and express these spiritual qualities, we find our pupils conscious of and responding to them also, for we are all, in reality, children of God, Mind.

To be systematic in our daily study of the Bible Lessons in the Christian Science Quarterly and of the By-Laws in the Manual of The Mother Church by Mrs. Eddy, and to put aside time each day for study and meditation as preparatory work for the precious hour of Sunday school teaching, will assure a sense of poise during that hour which will be reflected in quietness and order, and thus interest will be maintained, and lessons learned through precept and example.
