One with God

In the eighth chapter of Matthew's Gospel it is recorded that a leper came to our Master saying, "Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean." And we are told that "Jesus put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed." These words clearly show the Master's consciousness of his spiritual power to destroy evil.

Perhaps at some time or other in the course of his study of Christian Science one may have thought longingly of the joy that would be his were he equipped with the power to heal. What peace would he bring to those suffering from unhappiness, what healing to the sick, what purity to those bound by sin, could he but effectually command, as did the Master, "Be thou clean"!

It is encouraging, then, to remember that our Master's teaching indicates that "these signs shall follow them that believe," that is, understand and utilize the power of God.
