My introduction to Christian Science...

My introduction to Christian Science was in response to earnest prayer to be led to the truth about God. Although I had been reared in the home of an orthodox Christian minister and had enjoyed a number of precious religious experiences, I gradually became dissatisfied with the teachings I had received, and for a while dismissed the thought of religion and church attendance.

Then there came a time when my mental outlook was indeed very dreary. Even the sun, the flowers, and trees seemed to have actually lost their natural brilliance and beauty, although they were at their best at that season. All seemed to speak of inharmony and decay. My desire to find a church that could answer my questions was growing more and more insistent.

One day when my thoughts had become almost desperate, a woman whom I scarcely knew invited me to accompany her to a Christian Science service the following Sunday. I promptly accepted, but by Saturday afternoon was wishing I had declined. Not to break my promise, however, I went with her. I do not now recall the subject of the Lesson-Sermon from the Christian Science Quarterly, but it seemed as though it might have been arranged for my individual need, and I was overjoyed.
