Opportunity Always Available

For centuries mankind has been self-deceived into believing that "opportunity knocks but once." As a result of such limited thinking, many have suffered from this deception through the fear of losing or missing opportunities. In this apathetic state they waste time in wishful thinking. They may think if only they had a better education or a more imposing personality, if only they were younger or could move to some other place, perhaps they would find more opportunity for success, which plainly seems to be lacking in their experience.

Earnestly striving to assimilate the truth revealed through Christian Science, we learn that opportunity is never far away or bestowing largess on some while passing others by. So long as we pursue opportunity as a phenomenon associated with luck, chance, and other favorable or unfavorable omens, we lose the true meaning of the word and idea.

Students of Christian Science soon learn that God, divine Mind, alone governs man and the universe. One must turn to Him with faith and understanding, knowing at all times that his true selfhood, as a reflection of divine Mind, is necessarily included in the perfect universe. He will then stop wishing he were someone else or in some other place, for he will realize that since his true selfhood is made in God's image he is complete and perfect now, and therefore in his rightful place in Mind.
