A Day of Prayer

The President of the United States has requested that New Year's Day, January 1, 1943, "be observed in prayer, publicly and privately."

Our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, has said (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 16) that "the highest prayer is not one of faith merely; it is demonstration." In her book "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany" (p. 222) she tells us, "Mankind will be God-governed in proportion as God's government becomes apparent, the Golden Rule utilized, and the rights of man and the liberty of conscience held sacred."

The Mother Church will hold a brief service at 10.45 a.m. on Friday, January 1. The order of service for this special occasion will be as follows in The Mother Church:
