Signs of the Times

Topic: Labor Day

[From Nonpareil, Council Bluffs, Iowa]

The Federated Council of Churches of Christ, in a Labor Day message, reminds us that Jesus was a workman. During his boyhood and young manhood he worked with Joseph at the carpenter trade. He knew what it meant to labor with his hands, and he must have experienced the satisfaction that comes to a man when he uses his skill to do something useful and worth while.

Jesus knew that work, well done, gives meaning to human life. He knew that without work, life would have no meaning at all.
