It would be impossible for me to enumerate the blessings...

It would be impossible for me to enumerate the blessings which have been mine since. I began the study of Christian Science in 1903. However, one healing stands out as a milepost along the way and points ever to the glorious fact of the ever-present Christ.

A physical disturbance, with much pain, presented itself to me many years ago and persisted over quite a long period of time. Treatments were received from faithful practitioners throughout the years, and much relief was obtained, but the attacks returned. On a day when it was necessary that I should perform my part in a certain task, I was attacked by the same difficulty and unable to fulfill my duty. After I had endeavored to overcome the pain, as Christian Science teaches us to do, and had not gained my freedom, efforts were made to call a practitioner for help. The first one selected could not be reached, and attempts to call two other practitioners brought no response. At that time my mother had just commenced the study of Christian Science and felt that her understanding was too meager to cope with difficulty, but after it seemed impossible to get in touch with a practitioner, she lovingly offered to work for me as best she knew how. As she and I lifted our thoughts to God, I began to reason out the problem, in spite of the insistence of pain.

Mrs. Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, has written in Science and Health (p. 327), "Reason is the most active human faculty." As I pondered the truths revealed through the study of this textbook, concerning God as the only cause and man as the effect of this one infinite cause, the following questions and answers filled my consciousness.
