I am happy to add my testimony to the many others that bear witness to the truth that divine Mind governs all real action harmoniously. Mrs. Eddy's statement (Science and Health, p. 224), "There should be painless progress, attended by life and peace instead of discord and death," was demonstrated to me in the birth of my baby, twelve years ago.
We had to drive about thirty miles to the maternity home. I was fearful lest we fail to arrive safely, but on our way we stopped and called the practitioner for help, and I was relieved of pain. We arrived safely, and the nurse, a Christian Scientist, advised me to lie down and relax. She assured me that God was governing all in harmony. This relaxing was all that was necessary on my part. God's law of "painless progress, attended by life and peace," was already in effect. In fifteen minutes a fine eight-and-a-half-pound baby girl was born; and I experienced no pain during the birth. The doctor was quickly called, because the state law requires a medical attendant. He was amazed and happy that such an experience could be. I sat up in bed the first day, was up most of the third day, and came home on the seventh day, stopping on the way to do some shopping. Truly, divine Mind maintains and sustains all who rely on Him.
I am giving this testimony with the hope that it will strengthen and encourage others who may be called upon to face this hour of trial. May they too prove the perfect and harmonious government of Mind!
