Panama American

Ancon, Canal Zone (First Church).—Dedication services were held in the new church edifice of First Church of Christ, Scientist, Ancon, on November 10, 1940.

Christian Science services were held in Matachin in 1906, and later in Gorgona, Empire, and the old Circuit Court Building in Ancon. The present church site was obtained in 1915. The old Circuit Court building was re-erected on the present site and is now being used as the Sunday school and the Reading Room.

The new edifice was started in December, 1937, and completed in May, 1938. The first service held in the new auditorium was on June 5, 1938. It is a rule that Christian Science churches must be entirely free from debt before they can be dedicated.—Panama American.
