With a heart filled with gratitude for Christian Science,...
With a heart filled with gratitude for Christian Science, I should like to relate what it has done for me.
In the year 1935, a member of my family and I were separated. I was in desperate need of help, mentally and financially, and was at this time receiving government aid. My sister heard of Christian Science, and brought the message to me. She knew of my need, and pitied me because of the bunions and broken-down arches which kept me from walking any distance. I accepted Science with gratitude, for I knew no one could heal me but God. What appeared to be cancerous sores in my nostrils were overcome in two years by application of this Science. A flood of gratitude filled my consciousness for the citation from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy (p. 494), "Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need." My healing took place over three years ago and has been permanent.
A healing of a sprained wrist was experienced in twenty-four hours. While out walking on a wet sidewalk I slipped and fell three times, each time with my right arm under me. Error kept telling me that my arm was hurt, but 1 denied the error and affirmed the truth. I declared that God's man is unfallen. upright, and indestructible, and I kept repeating "the scientific statement of being" (ibid ., p. 468). The next morning my hand was swollen and useless, my fingers stiff, and my elbow discolored. I spent all that day reading the Bible and Mrs. Eddy's writings. Toward evening I reread the Lesson-Sermon, as given in the Christian Science Quarterly. and as I read the Bible the thought came to me of the woman whom Jesus healed, who "was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself:" also, of the man whom Jesus healed of a withered hand. Compassion and gratitude filled my consciousness for those whom Jesus had healed. I seemed to hear a voice say. "Stretch forth thy hand." As I obeyed, my fingers unloosed. My gratitude for those two healings had been the means of my own healing.
