I became interested in Christian Science through my wife's healing thirty-two years ago. Her testimony was published in the Sentinel in 1911. For that healing I shall never cease to be grateful. It was a joy to see her about and able to attend to home duties again, which she had not been able to do for many years. Since then we have had many proofs that divine Love meets all our needs. I myself was healed of lumbago and the smoking habit over twenty-five years ago, and have had no desire to smoke since. I was healed of influenza in a few days with the help of a practitioner. I was also healed of a poisoned finger. I was striving to hold to the truth, but the finger was very painful, and I lost consciousness and fell on the floor. My wife was helping me, and in a few minutes I was up and all the pain had left me. The finger discharged and healed right away.
A few years ago my wife was healed of poisoning from eating some canned food. We both worked together to know that man lives in the kingdom of heaven, and that nothing can enter there "that defileth, . . . or maketh a lie." This was firmly held to, and she was soon healed. How grateful we are for these proofs of Truth's power! Our two daughters also have been helped in many ways and have had many healings by applying the truth themselves.
I should like to tell what Christian Science can do in business. Some years after I became interested in this Science I told my wife of my desire that we start a business ourselves. She answered, "We will ask God to make it plain what to do," and God did make it plain. In three weeks all was prepared, and the business started. My desire was to work according to divine Principle—our motive to be not how much money we could make, but how best we could serve our customers; and the business prospered all the way.
