Dr. Charles W. Gilkey, of the University of Chicago divinity school, was asked recently what educators thought about religion today as compared with their attitude a few years ago.

"Five years ago," Dr. Gilkey replied, "the best men in our eastern universities were saying with a shrug of the shoulders, 'Religion? Nothing to it.' Today their successors are asking, 'Religion? What is there in it?'" Dr. Gilkey reported far greater participation by students in the religious affairs today than for many college generations past.
