Daily Nebraskan

In the report of an address which was carried by the Daily Nebraskan recently, some of the statements made give an untrue concept of Christian Science, and the work of its Discoverer and Founder, Mary Baker Eddy.

While it is true that Mrs. Eddy investigated the claim that the human mind had power to heal disease, she came to the conclusion that healing was not to be found in this way.

The religion of Christian Science is founded upon a purely spiritual basis. The Bible says, "For I am the Lord that healeth thee." The revelation that God is Life came to Mrs. Eddy in her great need, when, after she had sustained serious injury from a fall on the ice, her physicians held out scant hope of recovery. Later, being left alone, at her own request, she read in the Bible the account of the healing of the man stricken with palsy, and the healing power of divine Mind, God, so clearly illumined her thought that she arose, dressed, and to the great amazement of those mournfully waiting in the adjoining room, appeared to them, perfectly healed of her injury.
