Topic: What is Democracy?

[From the Journal-Herald, Dayton, Ohio]

Democracy is not as yet a stationary form of government. It has never neared a point of perfection, but it heads toward perfection. It is better than any other form of government which has made its way to this earth, for it looks toward a day when men will be not only theoretically equal but actually so. Democracy as a form of government is reaching toward an equality of joy and privilege and health. Democracy as a government is journeying toward the brotherhood of man.

There are many problems to be solved and many evils to be routed before democracy reaches the height for which it is destined, but those who have vision enough to know that it is traveling toward fruition have no fear for it.
