Among the Churches

Current Notes

Marietta, Ohio (First Church).—First Church of Christ, Scientist, Marietta, dedicated its new church edifice at the corner of Washington and Fifth Streets on Sunday, June 15, 1941. Services were held in the morning and afternoon. At each service the First Reader read a history of the Marietta organization, which follows, in part:

"Christian Science Society, Marietta, was organized on March 2, 1903. Around the year 1905 the Reading Room was established. In 1909 the Sunday school was established.

"The society grew and prospered. On January 21, 1912, its first Christian Science lecture was given in the City Auditorium. On December 17, 1913, the society was incorporated as First Church of Christ, Scientist, of Marietta, Ohio, a branch of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts. At this time meetings were held in the Register-Leader building, 311 Second Street.
