Proving Our Understanding of God

Christ Jesus understood the law underlying spiritual healing. He went about teaching and preaching the allness of God, good, and the perfection of His spiritual creation. He acknowledged only one power, the omnipotence of God, and he confirmed this teaching by casting out demons and healing all manner of sickness and disease.

The Master never claimed that the power to heal originated in himself. Indeed, he stated plainly, "The Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works." He proved that the law of spiritual healing is based on unerring, unchanging divine Principle, which is God, the Father of all. Jesus knew his ability to prove this law. This is evidenced by the fact that he cited his healing works to the disciples of John in proof of his claim to the Messiahship. "Go and shew John again," he directed, "those things which ye do hear and see: the blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up."

Jesus also knew that since Christ, Truth, is impersonal in its nature, it is ever available to mankind in the degree of one's spiritual understanding; and he imparted this knowledge to others. Lovingly and patiently he instructed his disciples, afterward sending them out to heal the sick in proof of their understanding of spiritual law. Later these disciples, carrying out the commands of their dear Master, continued the healing ministry and in turn taught their followers to do likewise.
