The Father Cares

O Thou , bereft on a barren way
Of mortal sense, in the heat of day,
Be not dismayed by seeming snares,
Trust thou in Him, for the Father cares.

The Father cares and has revealed
His sheltering way, wherein are healed
The lonely and the sore oppressed,
And every pilgrim may have rest.

His love abides to succor thee
From paths of unreality,
And he who listens can but hear
His "Peace, be still," through darkest fear.

Renew thou hope, lift up thine eyes
From barren way of mortal guise;
Love marks the way with joy and spares
Slow, weary steps, for the Father cares.
