I experienced blessings from the daily study of the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly soon after I began to look into Christian Science.

At the time of the World War, my husband wished to enter the army, although he was not within the age of the draft. I was very much disturbed and unhappy, until I saw that the decision was not mine to make. I then turned with all my heart to the Lesson-Sermons for comfort, and continued to study the complete Lesson daily. One morning while I was reading there came a brief and beautiful moment when all was light about me. Mrs. Eddy has written in Science and Health (p. 504), "The rays of infinite Truth, when gathered into the focus of ideas, bring light instantaneously, whereas a thousand years of human doctrines, hypotheses, and vague conjectures emit no such effulgence."

Several months later, when word came from Washington that my husband was needed, I found that although I was in a part of the country away from home and family, and would be left alone, I was undisturbed, and the Bible promise, "In quietness and in confidence shall be your strength," was proved in my experience. My husband was beautifully protected during his army service.
