God, the Only Source of Supply

It is probable that a good many persons find themselves somewhat disturbed and more or less perplexed by reason of increased taxation and the steadily mounting cost of living. These things naturally require a readjustment of one's financial affairs and, in some instances, such adjustments may seem difficult.

At one time a former President of the United States made, substantially, the following observation: "It is a condition, and not a theory, which confronts us;" and if one looks at the situation which seems to exist at present in that way he will, perhaps, be less disturbed by it.

Possibly there are some who would feel happier about sacrificing for defense, and for other purposes, if they were convinced that such sacrifice would always result in wise and economical expenditures. It is interesting, however, to note in this connection that Jesus, when asked about paying tribute to Caesar, was, apparently, not concerned with what disposition was to be made of the tax money after it was paid. When they asked him, "Is it lawful to give tribute unto Caesar, or not?" he replied, "Render ... unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's."
