"Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you."

Having become dissatisfied with the church of which I was a member, I had truly been seeking for something that would satisfy me when Christian Science was presented to me. I was suffering from sciatic rheumatism and inflammation of the kidneys and bladder when a neighbor saw my condition and offered me some Christian Science literature. I accepted it, and every spare moment was utilized in reading the periodicals. The result was that in three months I was completely healed. During this time I also had an instantaneous healing of a badly burned hand. When this healing occurred I realized the nearness of God so clearly that I was healed of the fear of cyclones and of being alone at night. I also loosed my children from many fears with which I had bound them.

Five years elapsed, during which I was satisfied to read only the periodicals. Then, in the words of Job, "the thing which I greatly feared" came upon me. A malignant condition of the gall bladder was manifested, accompanied by an extremely nervous condition. I realized that the time had come when I must depend wholly on Christian Science. It was four years before this condition was entirely overcome, but through earnest, consecrated study and obedience, and the loving help of practitioners, it was entirely healed. I am also grateful that many fears were destroyed while I was going through this experience.
