I want to express my gratitude for a beautiful healing...

I want to express my gratitude for a beautiful healing which I experienced a while ago. I had trouble with warts on my feet, which were painful and extremely ugly. One of my best friends, who is not a Christian Scientist, also had this trouble and went to a doctor for medical treatments. In the meantime it had seemed rather difficult for me to solve this problem, because I had quite unconsciously accepted the condition as a reality when hearing my friend talk of its seriousness, and of all the material laws the doctor had said governed her.

At first a member of my family helped me in my work, and then, as the condition grew so much worse, I asked for help from a Christian Science practitioner, which was very lovingly given. Still I did not respond, and I asked her to discontinue the treatments, for I felt I must work this out myself. I realized that fear was holding me in bondage—fear that I could not join my class group in swimming in the pool and fear that certain material laws had power over me. The condition grew steadily worse until poisoning set in, and it looked as if one toenail would drop out. At this point I again asked a member of the family to help me. It was lovingly recommended that I handle the thought of harshness and callousness. When I acknowledged that I had been indulging in these thoughts, and saw, too, that fear was not of God, I felt relief, and within six weeks the condition disappeared entirely. We knew that there could be no reversal in Truth nor a return of a lie.

I am grateful for the truth that makes men free and for this beautiful demonstration of its power. I am also grateful for membership in The Mother Church, and I am happy to be a pupil in a Christian Science Sunday School.
