The Lectures
Introductions to Lectures
Bridgeport, Connecticut (First Church).
Lecturer: George Channing; introduced by Mrs. Marjorie Jones, who said:—
Perhaps never before in the history of mankind has there been a greater demand for a dependable, saving influence to guide individuals and nations out of chaos and darkness into harmony and peace. Centuries ago our Master rebuked the Pharisees for seeking a material form of salvation, when he said, "O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?" It is imperative that we lift our gaze to something higher than material ways and means, and thus be able to meet the need of our times.
