Los Angeles, California (Twelfth Church).—In the Christian Science denomination a church is dedicated ohly when it is free from debt. Twelfth Church of Christ, Scientist, Los Angeles, has reached this goal, and held dedication services in the church edifice on Sunday, March 10, 1940, in the morning, afternoon, and evening.

On Sunday, June 13, 1915, Christian Science Society of Van Nuys was inaugurated; it was renamed Christian Science Society of Los Angeles after annexation of the district to Los Angeles. A church edifice was erected on Friar Street, and first services were held on May 7, 1916. A few months later a Reading Room was opened. On March 1, 1922, the society was recognized as Twelfth Church of Christ, Scientist, Los Angeles.

The building on Friar Street was soon outgrown, and for a number of years services were held in the Woman's Club House. It was a day of rejoicing when, on March 6, 1932, services were held in the beautiful church edifice on the corner of Hamlin and Cedros Streets.—Valley Reporter.
