Sunday School Notes and Comments

A teacher was pondering the question, "How can we so impress the Commandments, the Beatitudes, the Lord's Prayer, and 'the scientific statement of being,' as given by Mrs. Eddy on page 468 of 'Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures,' upon the thought of the children, as to make them a part of their everyday lives?" As she worked prayerfully over the problem, she silently and importunately asked our Father-Mother to show her how to see the perfect man, and then she listened for the answer as a little child. The thought came very clearly, "You can see the perfect man only as you reflect God." Continuing this thought, she saw that she could help the children to make these teachings vital in their everyday lives only as she first made them paramount in her own daily living.

Let us work earnestly to bring to our classes fresh inspiration each Sunday. We cannot be too grateful for the privilege we have in doing our part to further the spiritual education of these little ones in their journey from sense to Soul. "Thy heart must overflow, if thou another's heart would'st reach."

We are privileged to bear in mind, when teaching the younger classes, the wisdom of our Leader's counsel (Manual of The Mother Church, Art. XX, Sect. 2) that they be instructed "according to their understanding or ability to grasp the simpler meanings of the divine Principle that they are taught." During the lesson the children are frequently asked if they understand such and such a word, and they are also reminded to be sure to ask for the further explanation of any part that may not be entirely clear to them.
