My attention has been called to an article by a doctor in a recent issue. May I protest against the statement wherein he labels Christian Scientists as "quacks" and attempts to brand them as frauds, seeking recognition in competition with "qualified medical men."

Christian Scientists endeavor to live up to their code of ethics, which is to "do unto others as we would have them do unto us; and to be merciful, just, and pure" (Science and Health, p. 497). The results of Christian Science treatment have proved satisfactory to the followers of that great religion. The Christian Scientist has no quarrel with the medical profession. He is willing to stand upon the platform, "By their fruits ye shall know them."

May I quote the following from the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, Mary Baker Eddy (Message to The Mother Church for 1901, p. 30): "Christian Scientists are practically non-resistants; they are too occupied with doing good, observing the Golden Rule, to retaliate or to seek redress; they are not quacks, giving birth to nothing and death to all,—but they are leaders of a reform in religion and in medicine, and they have no craft that is in danger."
