It is almost thirty years since I began to study Christian Science
It is almost thirty years since I began to study Christian Science. From the very start I felt its healing effect, although I had been reluctant to take it up, because I had been prejudiced against Mrs. Eddy by false stories about her which I had read. When, however, I reached an extremity where materia medica could afford me no aid, I listened humbly to all a loving relative had to say on the subject of Christian Science; and when he related the many instances of wonderful healing that had come to him and to his friends through Christian Science treatment, I felt a sense of hope.
Before I had half finished reading a copy of the Christian Science Sentinel, I was firmly convinced that this Science is the truth. From then on I have been an earnest student of its teachings; and as my understanding has grown, physical ailments have disappeared, one by one.
During the years of my study and growth, two children have been reared to maturity without a drop of medicine of any kind, although so-called children's diseases, such as measles, chicken pox, whooping cough, scarlet fever, and diphtheria were readily overcome. The healing of diphtheria came in less than twenty-four hours. I have also witnessed the healing of ptomaine poisoning, appendicitis, a serious form of heart trouble, and prostate gland trouble.
