I should like to express through the periodicals my gratitude...
I should like to express through the periodicals my gratitude to Christian Science for my first healing, seventeen years ago, and many subsequent healings, and to tell how I began to learn of the Christ, Truth, which Mrs. Eddy was pure enough to reveal to the world.
I had been ailing for several months when the doctors advised a change for me and for our small son. A friend, a Christian Scientist, offered to have me at her home, and my husband took us there by train. We arranged for a consultation by three surgeons, who advised an operation, and it was decided that I should enter the hospital within a day or two. My husband returned to his work, having made all arrangements for me. My friend then asked me if I wanted to go ahead with the operation or if I would care to have help in Christian Science. When Christian Science was presented to me in this dark hour, I was at once ready to turn to it. A practitioner took up work for me and showed me how to study. My little son was taken care of so that I was able to devote my time to the study of Christian Science. I felt as though I were being born again. Everything looked beautiful to me. There was hope again and a purpose in living. I drank in the facts of Truth eagerly, and because of it grew stronger every day. The healing was not instantaneous, but was a gradual building up, a replacing of false beliefs with the glorious facts of life. Needless to say, the complete healing soon followed.
Since then we have had many healings in our home, and I rejoice or all of them and give gratitude to the practitioners who have helped us. While I am deeply grateful to God for all the physical healings, I am also grateful for spiritual regeneration. I am grateful also for membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church.—(Mrs.) Violet I. C. Barltrop, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.
