Making Decisions

[Written Especially for Young People]

A young immigrant to America, while scarcely more than a boy, won the confidence of a certain financial magnate and came into his employ. Through his position he was able to profit by certain information and invest his savings at a large profit. The first venture, according to prevailing standards, was very successful, but, knowing that the earnings had been increased through selfish and destructive methods, the young man realized that such profits were repugnant to him. He refused, then and there, to identify himself with avarice, and later, as recounted in his autobiography, he found his right place in a remote field, where he rendered a constructive service to his adopted land, and enjoyed the satisfaction of expressing his natural talent and seeing it recognized.

Intuition, conscience, or whatever we may call the angels of God's presence, have always guided mortals, but this guidance has been too frequently confused by the fears and desires of an illusory, mortal sense of life. Today we have in Christian Science the means of attaining the spiritual understanding which Mrs. Eddy has called "the line of demarcation between the real and unreal" (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 505), and through applying this understanding in human affairs we can make right decisions in all things with scientific certainty.

Christian Science teaches the facts about man and the real, spiritual universe. It declares that since God made everything, all creation is as perfect as the Mind that formed it. The real man, the image and likeness of God, is now in possession of the health, joy, and abundance of his spiritual heritage, expressing the qualities and power of his creator. He reflects infinite intelligence, and is always motivated by spiritual desires.
