In February, 1928, in a very small town twenty-five miles from home, our automobile was hit by the locomotive of a fast freight train. It was thrown thirty feet and fell, a mass of tangled wreckage. The driver and I were thrown clear of it. He was able to rise, and found me twenty feet away, apparently lifeless. Coming out to see why the through train was stopping, people discovered us. I was carried to the little hotel. The nearest doctor, twenty-six miles away, was called, and a messenger sent to my husband. Under protest the doctor dressed the cuts on my face and scalp, for he said I could not live more than an hour or so. Three hours later my husband arrived. In spite of severe criticism from others he managed by telephone to get in touch with the Christian Science practitioner who had helped us before, and who had recently gone to California.
About midnight I became conscious. There were none of the troubles prophesied for me and no pain, only some soreness and lameness. Most of my body was black with bruises. On the third day I dressed with help, walked to a car, and was driven home. Ten days later I was almost entirely healed. At no time was there anything but a sense of security and peace. All material laws and predictions were annulled by the practitioner's work.
My husband and I have had many healings. False beliefs and trusts have been overcome. Cases of sickness among the cattle have been healed and protection for them proved.
