I give this testimony in sincere gratitude for all that...
I give this testimony in sincere gratitude for all that Christian Science has done for me. Christian Science was first brought to my notice about ten years ago, and a copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy was given to me. However, after glancing rather carelessly through its pages, I laid the book aside. Three years later, circumstances forced my family to England, after living abroad many years. It was then, in a very unhappy and restless state of mind, that I turned to Christian Science. Through reading Science and Health I found peace and an understanding of God and the Bible that I had never known before.
My first outstanding physical healing was of constipation, a complaint from which I had suffered since childhood. Through the clear understanding and loving help of a practitioner this trouble was quickly overcome. During a very sever winter, when influenza was prevalent, I was quickly healed of this ailment. I was sent home from work on a Friday, to all appearances desperately ill. My mother implored me to allow her to send for a doctor, but I insisted on having Christian Science treatment, and word was sent to a practitioner. I resumed work on the following Monday morning, entirely well, much to the amazement of everyone, for it was expected I should be confined to bed for some time. I am deeply grateful for these and all the other healings experienced in Christian Science, particularly for the healing of undesirable traits of character.
About three years ago I was offered what appeared to be a very progressive position, at the other side of the world. I had no reason to doubt the integrity of the offer, because I had worked for this firm some years previously. Much work was done in regard to the change of country and employment, and the way opened for me to make the journey, and for my mother to accompany me. On my arrival, much to my astonishment, I found the position which had been offered was nonexistent, and the firm on the verge of bankruptcy. No explanation was given for what appeared such unfair treatment. I then found myself unemployed and without the necessary means for our return passage to England. Word of my predicament was sent to a practitioner, and help was lovingly given. Through complete reliance on God I was led to employment of a nature entirely different from any work I had ever done. Willingness to accept what seemed a very humble position enabled me to save sufficient money to meet the needs for my journey, and in a few short months my mother and I returned to our home in England. I am deeply grateful for this experience and demonstration of God's abundant supply, which meets our every need, and for the guidance, protection, and help which the study of Christian Science brought me during those months.
