We read in the Psalms, "What shall I render unto the Lord for all his benefits toward me?" I think the greatest benefit the study of Christian Science has brought me is my improved and corrected concept of God and His creation, for which I grateful to Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science. The study of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy has given me a better understanding of the Bible, and through this understanding I have been able to prove many times that the Biblical promises are as true and practical as they were in Jesus' time.
My introduction to Christian Science came through reading the Christian Science Sentinel. I was seeking, not a physical healing, but a religion. I had severed my connection with the church of my young womanhood, because I could find no happiness or comfort therein, and had been without a church home for several years. In December, 1910, I was visiting a relative, who asked me to go with her to the Reading Room in that city, to purchase some pamphlets in which she was interested. The librarian in charge voluntarily gave us three copies of the Sentinel. I read these with great avidity. By the time I had finished reading them, I knew that Christian Science was the religion of Love—a religion which would bring comfort and happiness. At this point I began to study Science, and I have been wonderfully blessed thereby.
Like the woman in the Bible story, I had "suffered many things of many physicians, . . . and was nothing betered, but rather grew worse." I was taking three or four kinds of medicine daily for various complaints. I frequently spent a day in bed, whereas, since taking up the study of Christian Science I have not had one whole day in bed on account of illness, nor have I tasted medicine during all these years. I have gained my freedom from ill-health, and am no longer a sufferer.
