In a recent issue a writer states that Christian Science denies the reality of sin, death, evil, and suffering, and that the whole system of this Science rests on a false philosophy and theology.

In the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mary Baker Eddy says (p. 460): "Sickness is neither imaginary nor unreal,—that is, to the frightened, false sense of the patient. Sickness is more than fancy; it is solid conviction. It is therefore to be dealt with through right apprehension of the truth of being." The fifth of six religious Tenets of Christian Science is as follows (ibid., p. 497): "We acknowledge that the crucifixion of Jesus and his resurrection served to uplift faith to understand eternal Life, even the allness of Soul, Spirit, and the nothingness of matter." In the same work (p. 39) is this further statement concerning Jesus: "He overcame the world, the flesh, and all error, thus proving their nothingness. He wrought a full salvation from sin, sickness, and death."
