Praise Ye the Lord
WEDNESDAY evening! It is the hour when Christian Scientists unite to tell their fellow men that Christian Science heals. To those in material darkness, in bondage to sin, disease, and hate, Christian Science comes to offer freedom. The Christian Scientist has proved by his own healings that matter and its supposed laws are unreal, and that belief in them fades before the understanding of infinite good.
From the time of his first healing, the Christian Scientist is earnestly desirous of helping others to find their freedom. At the beginning he may want to proclaim his healing from the housetops, assuming that all wish to hear. But he soon learns the truth of Mary Baker Eddy's statement (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 131), "As aforetime, the spirit of the Christ, which taketh away the ceremonies and doctrines of men, is not accepted until the hearts of men are made ready for it."
In the world today there are millions whose hearts are receptive to the Christ, Truth. They are seeking for that which will start them on the path to freedom, and they respond to sincere efforts to reach them with the healing power of divine Love. Our Leader established the Wednesday evening meetings as a means of reaching these seekers. These meetings provide the opportunity of giving and hearing testimonies of Christian Science healing. They provide an atmosphere of receptivity and peace. In Isaiah's words they say to all mankind, "Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters." In these meetings it is made known that God is divine Love, that Love includes all, and that matter and evil are unreal.
