Twenty years ago I was suffering from what had been diagnosed as a serious stomach condition, supposedly caused by overwork and worry. My medical friends did all they could to help me, but after months of treatment, X-ray examinations, and dieting, my condition was no better; in fact, it seemed to be getting worse. Finally, at a time when the situation seemed almost hopeless, a friend, who was a medical nurse, strongly advised me to turn to Christian Science for help.

The following day I obtained a copy of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. Somewhat skeptically I opened the book at page 1 and read, "The prayer that reforms the sinner and heals the sick is an absolute faith that all things are possible to God,—a spiritual understanding of Him, an unselfed love." I can well remember how thought arresting and encouraging that statement was to me then, as it has been many times during the intervening years. Further reading of the book convinced me that I had at last found the way out of my difficulties. The help of a Christian Science practitioner was obtained, and almost from the beginning of treatment there was a noticeable improvement. As a clearer understanding of the nature of God and of man's unity with Him was gained, I was correspondingly freed from the bondage of fear and resentment, and in a comparatively short time was completely healed.

Some years later I was healed of a distressing ear trouble, from which I had suffered since childhood. Medical specialists whom I had at various times consulted had said that the condition not only was incurable, but would grow worse. Through my study and application of the teachings of Christian Science, and with occasional help from my wife, the trouble was eventually healed.
