"The microscope of Spirit"

[Written Especially for Young People]

A Microscope, according to the dictionary, is "an optical instrument, consisting of a lens or combination of lenses, for making enlarged or magnified images of minute objects."

In "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mary Baker Eddy makes the statement (p. 264), "Matter disappears under the microscope of Spirit." And in her Message to The Mother Church for 1901 she says (p. 12), "The lens of Science magnifies the divine power to human sight; and we then see the allness of Spirit, therefore the nothingness of matter."

Christian Science teaches that God, Spirit, Mind, is the only creator, and that man is His image and likeness, spiritual, perfect, immortal. Through this Science we learn to see ourselves and others as God sees us—not as mortals, limited in health, intelligence, and activity, but as the sons of God, spiritual, harmonious, intelligent, useful, abundantly supplied with good.
