In 1925, my testimony appeared in the Christian Science Sentinel. About three years before that, my three small children had been healed of diphtheria through Christian Science treatment.

Four years ago, the elder of the boys entered the United States Navy. Shortly before taking his examination for enlistment, he experienced pain and swelling in his ear, supposedly caused by sand and other foreign matter which entered the ear while he was swimming. This condition was healed through Christian Science, and my son was one of the two boys who met the requirements when a group of twenty-five were examined. Twenty failed to pass the physical examination. This proves that he had suffered no harmful aftereffects from the diphtheria, although we had been warned that if he lived he would never be strong.

Another healing, which occurred a short time after he entered the Navy, came to him when he recalled the words of Christian Science hymns. A piece of steel had entered one of his eyes, and the physician who examined it said that it would be necessary for a more experienced physician to remove the steel the following day. However, the healing work was done, and when the physician made his examination, the piece of steel could not be found.
