"My burden is light"

A man of sorrows, Jesus? Well,
Perhaps the depths of human woe
Seemed dragging at his footsteps till
His feet beat slow
And heavy on the dusty road.
But yet, Christ Jesus knew the height
Of joy, Love's joy that melts the load;
That does not faint,
Nor fail to shine through every cloud
And prove the misty veil of sense
A dream that cannot ever hide
Omnipotence.
My burden, it is light, he said,
While darkened vision could not see
His joy that none could take away.
How patiently
He labored for mankind's release
From earthly care, from pain, from sin!
Ah, struggling heart, look up! Find peace,
And enter in.
The Father-Mother's love for thee
Is tenderly and richly kind.
No dream of burden bows thy head,
For all is Mind.
The joys of sonship round thee spread!
Thou, too, mayst take God's loving hand
And enter in—as Jesus said,
As Jesus said.
