"My burden is light"

A man of sorrows, Jesus? Well,Perhaps the depths of human woeSeemed dragging at his footsteps tillHis feet beat slowAnd heavy on the dusty road.But yet, Christ Jesus knew the heightOf joy, Love's joy that melts the load;That does not faint,Nor fail to shine through every cloudAnd prove the misty veil of senseA dream that cannot ever hideOmnipotence.My burden, it is light, he said,While darkened vision could not seeHis joy that none could take away.How patientlyHe labored for mankind's releaseFrom earthly care, from pain, from sin!Ah, struggling heart, look up! Find peace,And enter in.The Father-Mother's love for theeIs tenderly and richly kind.No dream of burden bows thy head,For all is Mind.The joys of sonship round thee spread!Thou, too, mayst take God's loving handAnd enter in—as Jesus said,As Jesus said.
