With my heart filled with everlasting gratitude to our Father-Mother God, to Christ Jesus, the Way-shower, and to our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, I write this testimony of my healing.

About four years ago I knew very little about Christian Science. A close friend, who was a Scientist, had often talked to me about it and the blessings that he and others had received from it, but I was not ready to receive or understand it.

I was taken dangerously ill with consumption. My employers sent me to a hospital in the Isle of Wight. The doctors told me that I required at least a year's confinement in bed, and in the meantime they would consider what treatment would be best for me. I am married and have three children, and I knew what my year's idleness would mean to them, with next to nothing coming in to pay the family expenses, so I began to worry, and made myself worse. Then I received a copy of The Christian Science Journal and a letter from my friend, who urged me to reach out for Science and true healing. I got the name and address of the nearest practitioner from the Journal, and wrote a letter, asking her to visit me and give me help. She visited me once a week, and awakened me to a realization of Truth.
