I am a living witness to the healing power of Christian Science

I am a living witness to the healing power of Christian Science. I acknowledge this most joyfully in the words of the Psalm, "The Lord hath done great things for us; whereof we are glad."

Through the application of the truth taught in Christian Science I was freed from the bonds of severe illness. The doctors stated that I had a diseased condition of the liver and gall ducts. For months I had suffered severely. At times I had relief through the loving help of a faithful practitioner, but one day, at the wish of near relatives, a doctor was consulted and I was taken to a hospital. There an operation was said to be necessary, but I requested to be taken home.

One thing I had learned, in the years of my earnest study of the teachings of Christian Science, was that I could rely unreservedly on the promises of the Bible. "I am the Lord that healeth thee;" "The word of God is ... sharper than any twoedged sword;" "I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee." These and many other comforting words helped me to reject the thoughts of fear which arose. I knew also that the practitioner was holding firmly to the truth of my son-ship with God. My departure from the hospital took place entirely harmoniously in spite of all the doubts expressed. There followed difficult weeks, but after one evening, when the last hour seemed to be not far off, things improved steadily. The practitioner helped me to uncover one false thought after another, such as resentment, doubt, self-pity, and an irascible disposition, and my healing gradually took place as these ugly traits of character were overcome. Today all trace of the disease has disappeared, and I am now wholly free.
