True Discipline in Church Building

One definition of the word "discipline" is "training or course of training which corrects, molds, strengthens, or perfects." Ordinarily one who subjects himself to certain rules of physical training, mental culture, moral codes, and the like, is considered to be in a better state of preparedness than one who does not adhere to any regulations, but is lax in morals, excessive in appetite, and given to self-indulgence.

In Christian Science we very quickly begin to learn that there is a much higher discipline, namely, the discipline of spiritual thinking, based upon the truth, which is utterly opposed to error, or physical sense, in all its claims, whether patent or subtle.

One of the most spiritually-minded Christians, Paul, said in a letter to the Romans, "Present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service." The master Christian, Christ Jesus, when asked, "Which is the great commandment in the law?" said: "Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself."
